I do not want to mislead anyone, so let me suggest they can do their own research about the term “standard of care” and its relationship to negligence and being mandatory. Another suggestion would be for them to ask an attorney for an opinion that if they consider the document to be a standard of care for their profession what can happen if they do not follow it and would the attorney consider it mandatory to be followed if it is considered to be the standard of care. This too is an area where a person must reach their own conclusion based on the facts presented.
