I wasn't trying to be misleading but you are correct I should have clarified my statements more. My tests were involving unconfined gas pools from a half gallon to 5 gallons poured on a concrete floor and allowed to spread out unconfined. A very similar test can be viewed on youtube videos. you are correct confining the pool which causes some depth can increase burn times. If you put some gas in a coffee can and ignite it it will burn longer that pouring it out on a flat unconfined surface. The time frames that I state or not absolute but are approximations from all the testing that my firm did but they did not vary much more that 20 to 30 sec either way. I was trying to convey that with gas if it is poured out on a hard surface and not confined but allowed to spread out and ignited the fire that it will produce will be done and over with in 2 mins of less.
