As usual, very good advice from Doug Carpenter..,
One "trick" we use. Buy a can of high temp enamel flat black paint. Spray paint the object and let it dry for several hours. This will put emissivity at about .99. This trick is especially useful when looking at an engine, for example, where various components have different emissivities.
