We had an incident like that in a commercial dryer in my jurisdiction. It was in a commercial laundry that cleans medical laundry. I was told that there is a significant amount of heat that is retained after the drying cycle is completed and fire is more likely if the cool down cycle of the dryer is not allowed to complete. My fire was caused by employees not allowing the cooling cycle to complete and removing the hot products with gloves into a polypropylene bin.

Check on the dryer filter maintenance, cleaning and if there is a digital record of the dryer cycle to see if there was an interruption in the cycle.
