As Mr. Lentini said, the cooling cycle will not prevent self heating.
I remember Fire Findings doing some research a long time ago, where they found that they had to wash a load a laundry multiple times (7 comes to mind) before the vegetable oils were removed.
I also worked a fire years ago where they ran the rags/towels from the kitchen at a bowling alley through the wash, and then through the dryer. They were taken out of the dryer and put into a 55 gallon garbage can. Within 3 or 4 hours they had self heated to ignition.
