Vapor pressure is the pressure exerted by a vapor in equilibrium with the liquid or solid phase of the same substance at a specific temperature. It is the vapor pressure of a flammable liquid which determines the flash point.
The (partial) pressure of water vapor in the atmosphere divided by the equilibrium vapor pressure of pure water and multiplied by 100 yields the relative humidity.
