I have one of the TIF gas detectors. It will alert to the presence of gasoline vapor and other vapors. At one fire scene, it seemed to be reacting to suppression-water vapor off-gassing from a sofa. I went back to the office and placed the TIF detector over the coffee pot, which was on the burner. The TIF alerted to the steam coming off the coffee pot.
