Bring a copy of the fire report and they will be glad to answer any of your questions.
If a Fire Suppression officer wrote the report instead of a fire/arson investigator, Then all bets are off the majority of these officers are very good at suppressing fires and do effective emt work, but as to the Cause and Origin of fires, its better left up to the professionals.
If you are insured you insurance carrier will conduct an investigation in to the cause and origin of the fire.
