Pride of accomplishment is perfectly acceptable, even desirable. Displaying your professional and educational accomplishments does in fact serve a useful purpose, particularly on this forum. It helps the reader get a feeling for the seriousness of the education and professionalism of the poster.
Is the poster certified, is he or she a professional engineer, what university degrees do they hold, how have others regarded their knowledge and accomplishments? These are all legitimate issues by which the reader may judge the accuracy and efficacy of the posts.
Hell, Tony we can’t even get some of these guys to tell us who they are. Anonymous posters should be ignored. These guys don’t even have enough confidence in their opinions to identify themselves.
It has been my experience that those who are particularly modest about their accomplishments (or lack thereof) usually have a lot to be modest about.
