Re: NFPA 921 2007 Report on Proposals

Pat:
I have a real problem with at least one of the TC responses to one of my proposals. Specifically Log 69. Only Mr. Nixon understood the depth and content of the proposal. The committees statement clearly shows their lack of understanding specifically pertaining to RV's. Just like watercraft, which by the way has it's own chapter because of its uniqueness, the RV section needs to be updated with its own chapter as well.
"Committee Statement: 25.1.1 The committee believes RV's are not so unique that the fire pattern interpretation is significantly different than other vehicles."
"Nixon, T: Rv's are basically a combination of a mobile home and a straight truck or bus and are constructed of a multiple of materials (fuels and fuel loads) not associated with common passenger vehicles. It appears that the submitter is providing a necessary yet subtle warning to the investigator with respect to these differences in fire patterns between common passenger vehicles and RV's."
Mr. Nixon could not be more accurate, and the 921 TC incorrect.
