Somebody is missing the point here. In order for an scientific, engineering, or fire investigation opinion to be heard in a court room, that opinion must be held to a reasonable degree of scientific, engineering, or fire investigation certainty. This has nothing to do with whether the opinion is that something is suspected, possible, probable or certain.
I may express an opinion in court that someting is possible, but that opinion must be to a reasonable degree of scientific, engineering, or fire investigation certainty. The degree of certainty to which I hold that opinion has nothing to do with what the opinion is. We're talking "apples" and "oranges" here.
