The finding of ILR is certainly not insignificant, but the level of apparent weathering alone is not probative with respect to whether the material was deposited before or after the fire.

Obviously, freshly poured gasoline will typically be less weathered than a sample which has been exposed to fire conditions (as in the IFSI paper cited elsewhere), but it is easy to show that it isn't necessarily so in all cases.
