Tim:
If you wait another month, SONY is coming out with their new camera, called the "ALPHA". This camera is supposed to be near their top of the line model, but the main advantage is that it will use a Universal Mount for ALL regular 35mm Lenses (Nikon, Cannon, Minolta, etc). As a person who has extensive 35mm "glass" including true 1:1 macros and 300-500mm Telephotos, I can not wait to test this camera out when released. According to the several major camera dealers here on the west coast, there is a big run on regular camera lenses right now, selling like hotcakes, in preparation for this new release.
Personally, right now I still use the Sony CD500 as do many people here. It is more than adequate at 5MP even for 11x14 glossy enlargements. The CD500 can be found on Ebay and other sites for less than $500.00
