Back in the late 80s, I had a nationwide insurance carrier assign me a million dollar residential loss. I told them it would take 3 days to process the site. They told me to see what I could do in a day. I complied.
Two years later, the individuals assigned to work the subrogation claim beat me up for not doing a thorough investigation.Lesson learned.
I began telling companies who wanted to save on investigative costs to get someone else. I even recommended folks who would do it for less. Consequently, my insurance carrier client list dwindled, until only the ones I really wanted remained.
Worked for me. I'm not sure how well such an approach might work for a larger company.
