In the two years that I have been with the State Fire Marshal's Office, I have arrested two volunteer firefighters for arson and currently working two additional cases where firefighters are suspects. I also have one case where a police officer is the primary suspect.

Any time that we arrest anyone with connections to any emergency response service, be it a fire department, law enforcement or even emergency medical response, it tends to create a dark cloud over all emergency responders. I believe that part of this is due to the fact that the general population either doesn't know the different or don't care. All they see as glamorized by TV and/or movies is the flashing lights, sirens, and vehicles, not the countless hours of hard work by the ones dedicated to hard work and sacrifice.
