For those that do not understand Pat’s use of words, I thought I would give all the details. Essentially, he was putting me down for my use of words, saying my comments are absurd, and that I was not following specific rules of debate, such as agreeing to certain assumptions. Here are the basic definitions of the words and phases he used.

Socratic Method (or method of elenchos or Socratic debate) is a dialectic method of inquiry, largely applied to the examination of key moral concepts and first described by Plato in the Socratic Dialogues. For this, Socrates is customarily regarded as the father and fountainhead for western ethics or moral philosophy. It is a form of philosophical inquiry. It typically involves two speakers at any one time, with one leading the discussion and the other agreeing to certain assumptions put forward for his acceptance or rejection. The method is credited to Socrates, who began to engage in such discussion with his fellow Athenians after a visit to the Oracle of Delphi. The practice involves asking a series of questions surrounding a central issue, and answering questions of the others involved. Generally this involves the defense of one point of view against another and is oppositional. The best way to 'win' is to make the opponent contradict themselves in some way that proves the inquirer's own point.

Fundamentals of English Syntax is explained in this brief introduction to syntax, the study of the structure of sentences. It is designed for use as part of an introductory course in general English linguistics, and as such must be selective. Syntax is the grammatical arrangement of words in a sentence. It concerns both word order and agreement in the relationship between words. Syntax is primarily concerned with structure of sentences.

Non sequitur (absurdism), comment which is humorously absurd or has no relation to the comment it follows; a statement so foolish, or illogical that can not be responded to (e.g. "Hot enough for you?")

As to my not having knowledge of the NFPA system he fails to point out the area of the process I do not understand. What he is really saying is there is a disagreement between us as to the information I posted being correct. The disclaimer can be found on the NFPA website and in the front of all NFPA documents. The area that the NFPA standard was silent about was the distance between the ceiling sprinkler head and the fuel package when rack storage reaches greater than the height addressed in the document.

I hope no person reading the information I have posted reached an opinion that I am correct based solely on my postings. I prefer that others use the scientific method of problem solving to reach there own conclusion.

Pat, I apologize if in any way you perceived what I said as a personal attack, this was not my intent. You initially asked a question and I posted an honest answer based on my opinion. I knew when I posted it, based on the wording of your question that we were of different opinions. I supported my opinion with data collected. My answer was nothing more than open and honest discussion, sorry if it offended you.
