The problem is that it is very hard to prove something is impossible through scientific testing and research. Just because it does not happen in our tests or other's tests does not mean that it is impossible (some people may think it does but they are mistaken). It may support our position that it is "highly improbably" or highly unlikely" and maybe that would have been a better choice of words.
I do doubt whether a fire occuring inside a refrigerator would be able to defeat the gasket prior to running out of oxygen but I do not really have any basis to say it is impossible.
What is the base oxygen level in a refrigerator?
