The North Dakota Chapter of IAAI invited the Lincensure board to come to a quarterly meeting last year and discuss the law and the way it is being enforced, etc because there has been some confusion on who is required to be licensed. A representative came and after discussion took the information to the board. The board met and agreed that the intent of the law was not to keep fires from being investigated; rather, it is to protect the privacy of citizens. They stated, after their meeting, that interviews to clarify origin and cause are a normal part of a fire investigation, but interviews and interrogations for motive,etc are outside of that stream and fall under licensing requirements.
