At a recent IAAI state seminar an instructior in a seminar class of both public and private fire investigators as well as engineers stated that their opposition ( the class ) was people like the Inocensece Project and referanced the Claude Garette case. Is that what people think in general. that is what it is and not the fact that its just about tyring to right a wrong or miscarrege of justic. Isnt it about time that our industry admits that back in the day a few things could have got sideways due to the beleive system and how fires behave and that its not just trying to get someone out of jail for the hell of it. I was dismayed at the assertion by this instuctor who is from the public sector. I would emplore all on here to Google the Claude Garrett case and see just what Im talking about here. What would your guys say today if you were called to a fire where the fire investigator who met you at the scene says I got it all figured out and says the fire was isolated to one room and all the furnature and elecrical items were throun out the window never to be examined or reconstructed at all with no examination of the dwellings elecrical or room of origins elecrical and the fire called Arson solely because of a burn pattern on the floor in a room that went to flashover and did so for some time before FD arrivel as well as the FI says hey I got a postive sample for Kerosene in a home that used Kero to heat and had a plastic kerosene can that was melted and damaged close to the room where the fire occurred. I wonder how you would call this today and GO.
