In my opinion, we are the problem. Until we realize the misjudgments of the past and fully the science of the present we do ourselves a disservice. I just recently read “Burned” by Edward Humes (https://www.amazon.com/Burned-Story-Murder-Crime-Wasnt/dp/1524742139/ref=asc_df_1524742139/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312094769172&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14490920887985238039&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9002204&hvtargid=pla-614083830695&psc=1). It should be required reading. We need to do better as a profession and realize bias up front.
