George:
The problem is that many people think they are not violating the law (civil law but law nonetheless) by stating "in my opinion". I used to post this way myself. I found out from several lawyers who specialize in Libel lawsuits that using "in my opinion" doesnt mean you can say what you want or feel, especially when you are talking about a specific person. Ask an attorney.
Like I said George, we either conform to the Code of Ethics or we don't. But I question how one can claim to be Just, Fair, Honorable, and impartial when they resort to name calling, degrading and demeaning comments, not with facts, for the pure intent of trying to bolster their opinion.
The fact is that the rule change was clearly posted under a new topic for all to see and the poster blatantly disregarded both the warning and the posting rules. I also said if you must resort to such name calling, do so in a private email, but the poster knowingly placed it on the public forum for everyone to see.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and the penalty for such was a 1 week posting ban. He can still surf the site as a Joe Schmo Public Citizen, but next Tuesday I will change his account back over to posting priviledges.
I didn't ask for much on the rule change, no more name calling and degrading posts. You may call it censorship, I call it professionalism.
