The events where it is a hot water pipe and not a steam pipe are indications that this will current at a much lower temperature. I imagine one of the reasons you have not seen testing with the hot water pipes is the time and expense it would take to run the test. We know for a fact happens. The failure of a laboratory to reproduce The results it’s not scientific saying it cannot happen.
