I think it is also important to note that CFI calculator can only perform steady-state calculations (i.e. a singular moment in time). Whereas FDS can model the dynamic and changing environment. So if you were to calculate, say, flame height using CFI calculator and you get an answer of 1.5 meters, that is only valid for that exact time in the burning phase of the fuel. FDS would allow you to model the flame height over any specified time period.
