A little too late don't ya think. Why the sudden change? Sounds like another situation where a well connected firm got their butt handed to them and so they now want to change the document to be more favorable in the future.
The 921 TC can obviously accept whatever code changes they want, but the courts have already accepted it as Standard of Care and Authoritative Treatise. NFPA 921 also cites the ASTM and other NFPA Standards including E860, E1020, E1188, etc. Those standards in turn cite NFPA 921 and establish the protocols for doing the forensic work. All I see happening is further confusion to the topic.
