Hi Pat,

I hope to publish the work in some form if I can only find the extra time. As you deduced correctly, I'm not suggesting a particular "brand" of pattern is exclusive to flashover per se. Nor have I discovered the "secret" to anything new. The work I hope to present simply aims to try and explain, in everyday terms, some of the physics behind pattern generation in a post-flashover environment.

In essence, we in the fire community have been satisfied for way too long with acceptance of the premise that "lowest burn/deepest char = fire origin". While many so called fire "experts" continue to use this "one size fits all" theory, it most certainly does not. Our teaching methods have to adapt in order to take such a thought that might apply in a pre-flashover scenario, and show why it does not necessarily transfer straight across after a compartment experiences sustained, post-flashover fire conditions.

What I am offering is not "rocket science" by any means, but hopefully just a "plain English" explanation of fire behavior under post-flashover, ventilation-limited conditions. I've certainly not discovered anything new that most fire scientists haven't known for years. I'm merely trying to help bridge the communication gap that continues to exist between the technical types (that too often fail to speak in simple terms) and the everyday fire investigator.
