Of course, the agitation of the liquid during filling procedures helped too much in pushing the vapors out from the same hole. The exhaust of the truck filling the tank by gravity was not fitted with a spark proof cap and was at couple of meters from the filling hole and at the same level.The use of a lighter or match to light a cigarette is very likely to happen. The diesel was mixed with a low-flash point liquid and this is why they moved the tanks and trucks and cleaned the area very quickly to prevent us from making a test. We have had some similar incident with gasoline but NEVER with diesel.
