I believe that flow rate is much more important than pre-ignition mixing. The mechanism of backdraft explosions apparently usually involves the swirling together of fuel-rich and oxygen-rich layers which may have individual non-explosive compositions but can together burn rapidly by turbulent deflagration.
Obviously, the flow rate will vary in different scenarios, especially depending on the level of upper attic ventilation. Running front-of-the-noggin calculations on my own house, I find it is a slam dunk for a good backdraft, having something of the order of 10 square feet of attic roof vent area.
The proposed process is certainly a likely prospect for modeling.
