One of the most illustrative pictures I have ever seen can be found in John Lentini's book "Scientific Protocols" on page 243, figure 6.32. It shows oxygen burning,so could oxygen,be regarded as a fuel? The description given in the chapter is extremely useful to answer the intial question on this thread from Terry.
So, the answer your specific question, "ignition of what" may have to come from Terry as I don't know what exactly burned. My responses were to give a possible connection to the cause and how oxygen can be a contributory factor.
