Yes. If you have applied an unreliable methodology to reach your determination(s), then, this would represent an unreasonable degree of scientific certainty.
Just saying you followed the SM, does not mean you applied it in a reliable manner. Following the "steps of the SM" is a necessary, but insufficient condition for reaching a reliable determination. The devil is in the details as it applies to a specific set of data.
