Jim,
I really think this argument is pointless. And I do not wish to continue this debate, but I can't help myself.
All of the professions which you list have a myriad of standards of care for performing their various duties. All of the practitioners of these professions are taught these standards in college.
Do you really think that there are no standard procedures or practices for medical operations and treatments, engineering calculations, or legal procedures?
Individuals who do not perform according to those written standards frequently find themselves in trouble, either in malpractice disputes or ethical disputes dealing with malfeasance or nonfeasance.
I am going out of town tomorrow morning for a trial so I will be off the forum for a few days. Somebody else will have to argue with you for a while.
