The process of trying to disprove (and "eliminate") hypotheses using the SM is falsification. You may not be able to eliminate any or all hypotheses. Thus, it is not "a process of elimination." Trying to render a hypothesis false or disproved is falsification without the need to eliminate all to reach a reliable determination.
