I agree with you. I believe it makes your presentation more acceptable to the jury when you show all the effort you took in reaching a conclusion. I like spelling it out as to how I collected the data, analyzed the data, then developed a hypothesis or different hypotheses, how I tested each, then reached a conclusion based on the result. I will even discuss how I did the same for opposing expert’s hypothesis.
I find is this is done on direct examination it deflects the opposing side’s cross examination.
