You know what I think about often if the Olympic bombing in Atlanta. There was so much circumstantial evidence pointing to Richard Jewel. The best profilers picked him to be the bomber. The FBI behavioral specialists in Quantico, Virginia, had watched Jewell’s CNN interviews and decided he “fit the profile of a person who might create an incident so he could emerge as a hero.”
Jewell always wanted to be a cop. In 1990 he landed an entry-level job as a jailer with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Department. While working a second job as a security guard at his DeKalb County apartment complex, Jewell was arrested for impersonating an officer; he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was put on probation. More circumstantial evidence.
They were saying they could tell this person’s intent without any physical evidence. Have we learned from this?
