In the Federal Rules of Evidence, an exact electronic copy of an electronic file is deemed to be an original. THis would hold true for your voice recordings on your digital recorder and for electronic images on your digital camera.
THat is why it is recommended to make an exact copy of images and recordings prior to enhancements and editng.
