I have always been taught that only facts should be contained in your notes. If this is the case, then why does it matter if you keep them! Who cares what investigator or lawyer obtains a copy of them....there shouldn't be any thing in those documents that would/could hurt your investigation. KISS-keep it simple and sweet!
